Nicole Schultz is passionate about the University of Calgary and is excited about Internal Audit’s role helping the university achieve its Eyes High goals. Nicole has been at the University of Calgary for almost a decade in various roles – the most recent the Director, Internal Audit. As a member of the Internal Audit team, Nicole has demonstrated her leadership and overall audit knowledge and has become a trusted advisor for many units across the university.
Having spent part of her career in both IT operational and audit roles, Nicole has been actively working on delivering value by bridging the gaps between IT and Internal Audit. Spending time in public practice (Deloitte and Meyers Norris Penny), as well as in operational IT, has enabled her to become well-tuned to risks controls, and pragmatic opportunities for improvement. The focus of Nicole’s work has been in IT Risk Management and Internal Audit and this work has led her to become a passionate advocate for making Internal Audit a responsive and nimble function that enables her organization to achieve its goals.
Nicole is a Certified Risk Management Assurance Professional, Certified Information Systems Auditor, Certified Information Systems Security Professional and Payment Card Industry Compliance Professional. She also has an undergraduate degree in Applied Computer Information Systems.
