Samir Chhelavad

Samir is the Vice President of Audit and Evaluation (Chief Audit & Evaluation Executive) at Canada Mortgage Housing Corporation (CMHC). Samir is a Chartered Professional Accountant, a Certified Internal Auditor and holds the Certification in Risk Management Assurance designation.

Samir brings with him over 25 years of progressive experience in the areas of Controllership (~10 yrs.), Internal Auditing and Risk Management (~9yrs) and External Auditing (~6 yrs.).

Prior to joining CMHC Samir was the Vice President and Corporate Controller at Hydro One – Ontario’s largest electricity transmission and distribution service provider where he led the financial accounting, external and regulatory reporting aspects of the Company’s IPO in 2015, which was (at the time) the 4^th largest IPO in Canadian History.

Samir and his spouse have recently moved back to the eastern Ontario /western Quebec region after living in the Greater Toronto Area for 20 years and is a dog dad to 3 amazing and rambunctious boxers.
