Julie Bastarache has over two decades of global experience in the public, private and humanitarian sectors within various fields, including external and internal audit, evaluation, risk management, finance, external relations, stakeholder engagement and partnership, communications, and public outreach.  She is a Chartered Professional Accountant in Canada and speaks French and English fluently.

Julie considers herself an ‘expert generalist’ and an agent of change: modernization, transformation, learning, and creative problem-solving fuel her professional ambitions.  Striving to continuously adopt a growth mindset and apply servant and inclusive leadership principles, she also actively mentors, coaches and facilitates the development of others and believes that change is one of the only constants we will ever experience and one that is growing exponentially faster as time goes on.  She applies an ARTFUL approach to navigating that change in managing risks and leveraging opportunities and has also adopted an ARTFUL approach to her new internal audit role.

In her current Chief Audit Executive (CAE) role, she is accountable for providing independent, objective assurance and consulting activities designed to add value and improve the Office’s operations.  Julie and her team will continue to bring a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluating and enhancing the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes.
