Day 2 - Concurrent Session 6 - Track 6

The CAE Life Cycle and the Importance of Continuous Improvement

Level: Intermediate

This session will emphasize the realities of being a CAE. It is not that easy, and very few have been able to stay in the role long term. This session will emphasize the secrets of longevity in the CAE role, and also how to continuously manage a very prosperous career at this level, which may involve several changes over time.

The demands on the Internal Audit profession never stop changing and increasing over time. To stay on top of your game you always need a professional development strategy. Technology is driving the speed of change and the evolution of controls. The emergence of new risks is also evolving at a rate that has never been seen in history. These trends make it obvious why CAE’s must continuously learn and improve to remain relevant in their positions.

The session will use the real-life careers of several prominent CAE’s to reflect the pathways they took to become a CAE, and the many career changes that followed. You will learn about current trends and statistics related to the life cycle of a CAE. The facilitators will emphasize not only the CAE lifecycle of the past but predict what the life cycle of the future may look like. Also, you will hear what current CAE’s are doing to stay on the leading edge.
