Audit Leaders Event (ALE) – Disruption: From Risk to Resilience – Navigating the 4th Industrial Revolution

Audit Leaders Event (ALE) – Disruption: From Risk to Resilience – Navigating the 4th Industrial Revolution

Join us for IIA Canada’s 2017 Audit Leaders Event. This event will explore the risks and opportunities in an ever-changing landscape and the role internal audit must play to embrace and enable response to these changes. This session will provoke and inspire audit leaders and audit committee members:

  • How is technological, political and social disruption affecting our organizations?
  • What is needed to not only navigate, but reap the benefits that come from disruption?
  • What must internal audit do to enable these opportunities and help organizations transform and thrive?

Disruption is multi-dimensional. This event will cover:

  • Technological innovations like blockchain, artificial intelligence and robotics which are changing the face of industry and regulation, introducing massive opportunities as well as significant risks;
  • Economic changes like the impact of the sharing economy, as well as a deepening incoming inequalities; and,
  • Shifts in public opinion, including the rise of populism and new expectations for public engagement, all of which are compelling to re-think their approaches to stakeholder and shareholder engagement.

Disruptions such as these have the potential to yield great value to society and to our economy.  But they also bring challenges for business and policy makers alike – all of which need to be nimble and resilient while crafting “new social contracts” with Canadians.

In this context, this event will discuss internal audit’s niche and how can it can enable organizations to add value and thrive through the 4th Industrial Revolution.

FORMAT

We will start the session off with lunch and a keynote speaker: Cameron Schuler is with the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (www.amii.ca). This organization is recognized as a top three machine learning institutes in the world.  Mr. Schuler will address the risks and the opportunities facing business and society with digitization, artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Our final keynote, Nik Nanos, will discuss the rise of populism and the challenges it brings to organizations in the public and private sectors.

Having been inspired by our keynote addresses, get ready to engage with an expert panel of insightful leaders on the following topics:

  • The different types of disruption affecting organizations and how audit is helping or hurting;
  • The disruptions that are affecting the profession of internal audit and how leading shops are innovating, reinventing themselves and seizing opportunities.

Then get ready to relax and network at the wine and cheese event taking place immediately following the final session. See Agenda below. Downloadable ALE Agenda (PDF) will be available soon.
